SOLO François Decamps
François Decamps is a Belgian jazz guitarist, arranger, composer, producer and teacher.
He is one of the musicians and founding members of the Jazz Station Big Band, for which he also creates original compositions and arrangements. A versatile musician, François also deploys his creativity in a wide range of formations, from trio to quintet.
This versatility has forged his passionate and innovative approach to contemporary jazz, both in his instrumental playing and in his compositions.
In addition to his activities as a musician, François Decamps is active in a variety of artistic fields. He divides his time between concerts, recordings, composing for the screen and teaching.
On Thursday 1 February, as a prelude to the Jazz Station Big Band concert at the Jazz Station (8.30pm), François will be giving a solo performance in the salons of the Maison Autrique from 7pm to 7.45pm.
He'll be revisiting the highlights of the Jazz Station Big Band's 18-year history, looking back at thematic projects such as the tributes to Thelonius Monk and Charles Mingus. He will also perform a number of original JSBB compositions.
If you feel like it, you can go from solo in Schaerbeek to big band in Saint-Josse, thanks to the recent partnership between the Jazz Station and the Maison Autrique: "From small to big band, from Schaerbeek to Saint-Josse".
