Tara concerts n°3

The 'Tara concerts' are dedicated to encounters and crossroads, juxtapositions and mixtures, bridges and passages that cultures have always generated and regenerated.

On Friday 29 March, Maison Autrique will host the 3rd concert in the Tara series, a project initiated by violinist Abigél Kralik and violist Mathis Rochat, two accomplished musicians who have found Brussels the ideal backdrop for their programme dedicated to variety.

For this 3rd concert d'Ouest en Est, Nadège Rochat will open the evening with the 3rd movement of Zoltan Kodaly's Sonata for Solo Cello.

After Hungary, it's on to Armenia and the graceful sounds of Vardan Hovanissian's duduk.

Then, still further east, you'll hear the Baûl music of the "mad bards" of Bengal performed by the Baûl meets saz trio, to which the young Schoenberg will respond, this passionate Viennese who, in 1899, with his "Verklärte nacht", created one of the greatest masterpieces of Romanticism, just before totally revolutionising the world of tonal music.

The “Transfigured Night" will bring together a team of international stars, including Victor-Julien Laferrière (winner of the 2017 Queen Elisabeth Competition) and the "giant of the viola" Lars Anders Tomter, who will be coming all the way from Norway for a string sextet performance of the original arrangement of Schoenberg's work.
