SOLO Daniel Stokart
From small to big band, from Schaerbeek to Saint-Josse
In partnership with the Jazz Station, we've come up with a formula called "From small to big band, from Schaerbeek to Saint-Josse".
Every first Thursday of the month, from October to June, from 8.30pm to 10.30pm, the Jazz Station Big Band (14 musicians) performs at the Jazz Station (chaussée de Louvain 193, near Place Saint-Josse).
From 7pm to 7.45pm, the Maison Autrique will be hosting a pre-concert featuring a solo performance by one of the Big Band musicians. He or she will take this opportunity to introduce you to his or her instrument(s), their specificities and/or their unsuspected uses in a unique performance. Drinks available from 6.45pm. Separate or combined tickets on sale at the following link.
SOLO - Daniel Stokart
Daniel Stokart started playing the transverse flute as a self-taught musician and discovered the saxophone in 1979 in Brussels.
He began working with various theatre companies, for which he played the musical parts (Théâtre du Miroir, Théâtre de la Balsamine, Théâtre Varia, etc.).
From 1983, he was a member of the group Combo Belge (from 83 to 95), for whom he composed part of the repertoire.
In 1984, he joined a number of free improvisation groups and performed at various venues in Brussels (Ancienne Belgique, Halles de Schaerbeek, etc.).
In 1988, Daniel enrolled at the Brussels Conservatoire in the jazz section, where he won the first prize.
Since 1989, he has played in a number of modern jazz groups.
He has collaborated with Pirly Zurstrassen (in a duo, with the "H septet", in "Chromo-Sonore", "Musique à neuf", "Musique Azur"), with François Descamps' jazz octet and has played in the groups "Cheiro de Choro" and the "Henri Greindl Quintet" (Brazilian music).
Daniel Stokart is currently a member of the following groups:
- Kaléidoscope (string ensemble and soprano sax), with Alexandre furnelle
- Jazz Station Big Band
- Merkur (electro-jazz)
- Jatoba (Brazilian jazz) with Henri Greindl and Charles Loos
Daniel also plays solo using the principle of re-recording.
